There are 3 types of competitions in The Netherlands: indoor, outdoor and mixed. One of these competitions is played at any time of the year. The competitions are played nationally, which means you will have to travel with your team. Luckily Wageningen hosts a lot of competition days! A competition consists of around 4 playing days with multiple matches each day.
Outdoor mixed (Sep-Oct)
The mixed competition is between September and October. Teams consisting of female and male matching players compete against each other. During the game you play with 7 players with either 3 or 4 females on the line. The mixing of genders allows for a very dynamic and fun game! Games are 70 minutes on a long field.
Indoor open (Nov-Mar)
The indoor competition is between November and March. There are 2 parallel indoor competitions : open and woman. Each competition has different player levels. In the woman division a team consists of at least 5 female matching players. In the open division a team consists of at least 5 players either male or female. Indoor is played differently compared to outdoor. The games are shorter, the frisbee flies higher through the air, and the game is more quick paced.
Outdoor open (Apr-Jun)
The outdoor open competition is between April and June. There are 2 parallel competitions with different playing levels: open and woman. The game is played 7 against 7. The match is 70 minutes. The field is long, which allows for deep throws and sprints. Tactics might change regarding the wind conditions.
