Last Sunday WAF participated with a mixed team in the Bfrisbee2s Beach Tournament! The Tournament was organized by our lovely fellow Student Frisbee Association in Nijmegen in honour of their 30th anniversary.
The weather was perfect for a beach tournament in Nijmegen. Yes, apparently there is a beach in Nijmegen… Who knew?! The sun was out, but the nice breeze prevented us from overheating. Perhaps the word “breeze” is not the correct term. It was more like a strong wind with some quiet moment here and there.
The wind was no problem for our team! We had a lot of experience throwers that can throw against this wind, and a lot of runners that were able to catch the weirdest of throws. Not to forget our powerhouse of female matching players that stood ground against all other female matching players and even the male players too!
Our first match against TMC was not the one we imagined. The smaller size of the field and the poaches against us where a big problem. But this defensive tactic gave us inspiration for our own defence in the upcoming matches. We lost our match against TMC, but our heads were still up high.
We won all our upcoming matches against UFO, Bfrisbee2s and Discover. This meant it was time for the finals against TMC. We had processed our trauma from the first game against TMC and used their own defensive tactics against them. And with success! We won the finals with a good score gab.
WAF got first place at the beach tournament!
